Description

Readers all-around the world have fallen for Kelley Armstrong’s intoxicating, sensual and wicked tales of the paranormal, in which demons and witches, werewolves and vampires collide – often hilariously, sometimes violently – together with usual life. In Armstrong’s first six novels, Elena, Paige and Eve have had their way together with us. Now get ready for Jaime Vegas, the luscious, lovelorn and haunted necromancer. . .

Jaime, who recognizes a thing or two concerning showbiz, is on a television shoot in Los Angeles when weird things begin to happen. As a woman whose exclusive talent is raising the dead, her threshold for weirdness is pretty high: she’s used to not only seeing dead people but hearing them talk to her in very emphatic terms. But for the first time in her life – as invisible hands brush her skin, unintelligible fragments of words are whispered into her ears, and beings move just at the corner of her eye–she recognizes what humans indicate when they speak concerning being haunted.

She is determined to get to the bottom of these manifestations, but as she sets out to solve the mystery she has no idea how scary her investigation will get, or to what depths ordinary humans will sink in their strives to gain supernatural powers. As she digs into the dark underside of Los Angeles, she’ll want as much Otherworld help as she can get in order to survive, calling on her personal angel, Eve, and Hope, the well-meaning chaos demon. Jeremy, the alpha werewolf, is in addition by her side offering protection. And, Jaime hopes, maybe a little extra than this.

“As I knelt on the cobblestones to initiate the ritual, I opened not some ancient leather pouch, but a Gucci do-up bag. . . .

I recognize little concerning the geography and theology of the afterlife, but I do recognize this the worst spirits are kept secured, and my risk of “accidentally” tapping into a hell dimension is next to nil. Even if I do get back some depraved killer’s spirit, what can it do to me? When you deprive someone of the capability to act in the living world, he’s pretty darned helpless. In death, even the worst killer plummets from lethal to merely annoying.

Yet whatever had been trying to contact me apparently could cross this barrier, could act in the living world. . .at least on me. I added an more helping of vervain to the censer.”

I love how this book has given Jaime Vegas more emphasis. It showed how strong a woman she really is, not the ditsy redhead as she is portrayed in earlier books. I also love how Kelley Armstrong showed a new "not so gentlemanly" side to Jeremy! After four long years Jaime finally gets her man!

What can I say - No Humans Involved is another great installment in the Women of the Otherworld series. From her appearances in several of the other books in the series, I wasn't sure how much I would enjoy Jamie's story, but I pleasantly surprised. The plot is original, with fantastic witty dialog. Jamie is a strong, engaging and sassy character.

My only gripe with the book (and it's a small one) is that the romance between Jamie and Jeremy really is secondary to the plot. After all the build-up in the past few books, I was hoping for a bit more. Don't get me wrong, the plot twists were compelling and the characters, well-drawn and entertaining, but the "romance" was lacking something.

Overall, No Humans Involved is another solid foray into the paranormal romance genre. I am so happy to have discovered Kelley Armstrong! She is an amazingly creative and delightfully diverting author, and I can't wait to get my hands on book 8!

I forgot just how much fun this series is to read! I really enjoyed Jaime's narration - as well as the romance! This was a great read that included updates about all of the major characters and reminders concerning things that took place in previous books (it's been a while since I read _Broken_...). The plot was very interesting and I am excited to continue to catch up with this series!

I really loved this book. I loved reading from Jamie's perspective (she is the necromancer in the book). Kept me reading through the whole time. I found myself trying to solve the whodunnit in this book.

So we start off with Jamie Vegas, a hot necromancer who is so annoyingly dumb, who can't figure anything out for herself without Jeremy, the hot werewolf, or Eve, the evil dead witch. the book isn't really about the issues she encounters as she is about to film, but the journey she has with Jeremy and how hot she is for him, but he can't decide. I wanted plot, something to read and how everything fit in. I understand that as a writer, you don't want to give any information away, that you don't want people knowing who done it by page 16. But giving a run a round and not enough information isn't going to help surprise us, but aggravate; especially when she's filling in the pages with how bad jamie wants Jeremy. & when they do figure it out, it's as anoing as Law & Order; Criminal Intent and how they just "know" who did it... Don't bother with this book, it's annoying.
